Tot School- January 2017 (3 Years, 2 Months)
It's hard to believe we're halfway through this Tot School year! We weren't super diligent through November/December, but that's what I love about these plans, it's so easy to jump back in at any time and pick and choose the things we have time for/love!
So here are our Tot School plans for January!
Just a reminder that we're using these literacy and math curriculum bundles and will be following these directly, so I have not outlined any of the details in my plans, just noted which lesson we're doing or which concept we're focusing on.
Also, these plans are geared towards children ages 3-4. If you are interested in younger activities, you can check out this January post for around a year old, and this post for around age 2! I'm sure I'll be pulling old ideas from those posts for Fynn to join us some too!

Activities
Pretend Snow
All you need is shaving cream and baking soda. Dump out out baking soda (I used a small box) into a big bowl or tub. Slowly add shaving cream and stir until it is a fluffy, moldable consistency. It feels great! You can make snowmen and snowballs and all sorts of fun things. The coolest part is that if you add drops of vinegar near the end, it will bubble and "erupt!" Source
Snowman in a Bottle
Decorate a clean, dry bottle or cup like a snowman with a sharpie and an orange triangle. Add mini marshmallows inside the small neck and practice counting as you go. Source
Fluffy Polar Bear Paint
Use polar bear printout to make fluffy paint. Mix together equal parts shaving cream and white glue in a disposable cup. Make sure they use a generous amount of fluffy paint for their polar bear! It will dry 3-D and puffy!
Snowball Water Play
Fill a big tub (or the bathtub and play inside!) with water. Using a sharpie, label some ping pong balls with the numbers 1-10. Ask your child, "Do you think these balls will sink or float?" and then experiment! Each time they retrieve a ball, talk about what number is written on the ball. My kids liked to place these into egg cartons once they fished them out! I suggest using measuring cups or large serving spoons to scoop.
